Hi Everybody!
Well, things are really starting to roll along with the new album and I am getting very excited!
Progress has been made. I finally decided on the name of the new album, that’s big news! The name of the album may seem like a small detail, but I think it is very important. It is the initial impression of what is wrapped up inside.
Funny thing is, the title actually chose me. One day I was looking at the list of songs I was considering to include and I realized there appeared to be an unintended theme. In one way or another, most of the songs have to do the with life challenges, plugging through and moving ahead.
Ironically, the song I had chosen to be the album title song has been re-written several times and the name has been changed just as many. First it was called “Brand New Day” ..nah, too common. Then I changed it to, “Tattered &Torn.” At first, I was like, "WOW" That's' IT!I could see so many awesome images to relate to the phrase tattered & torn that would make for a fabulous album cover and with that, I decided to make it the title track. For some reason I felt uncomfortable whenever I announced it at at show. Then it occurred me, “Tattered & Torn” was very negative, very dark; so contrary to my positive outlook. When I suddenly got the idea to reach for the preceding line instead, “rise from the storm,” which is actually more representative of the message of the song as well as my overall perspective and VOILA ! The song title was changed to “Rise from the Storm.”
“Rise from the storm, tattered & torn. There’s hope in the light of a brand new day” Perfect!
My new album will be called "RISE FROM THE STORM."
I do love the process of writing and watching things fall into place!
And now, most important, I want to take a minute to say thank you to all my family & friends of Joanne Lurgio music. I hope you know how much I appreciate your support. Whether it is coming to my shows, listening to my music, sharing my music or just being there and encouraging me, I am very very grateful. You help keep me inspired.
On that note, I would like to tell you a little more about my Kickstarter Campaign which I have made mention of in the past. I will be kicking it off any day now and I wanted to give you a head’s up beforehand and tell you a little bit more about what it means and how you can get involved. The Kickstarter Campaign is great way for artists to help fund their projects as they are being created.
I think of it more like PRE-ORDERING the album. We make it fun by offering different “Rewards” for different level of funding; i.e. pictures, lyric sheets, a songwriting party! By pre-ordering your CD, you will help with some of the upfront costs as well as making you a part of the recording project.
The actual Kickstarter Campaign will explain in greater detail.. Keep your eyes open. I will send out a newsletter to let you know!
It only lasts 30 days! I have 30 days to reach my fundraising goal! I will be reaching out to all my family & friends of Joanne Lurgio music for your help!
